How do you change the screen resolution of your computer?

I recently bought a Canon digital camera and I can't install the software that comes along with it. The required Display to install the CD is 1024x768 pixels but my PC only has 800x600 pixels. I already tried going the Control Panel-Display-Settings but the tab where I will adjust the screen resolution won't move. Its just stuck at 800x600 pixels. Help please! How do you change the screen resolution of your computer?
Maybe you dont have your graphics driver installed. First install it from the motherboard/graphics driver CD and then try adjusting the resolutionHow do you change the screen resolution of your computer?
by a better graphics card that supports the Resolution you want

also you may need a new monitor to display the Resolution properly

Also: - you shouldnt really need the cd if you have xp or vista just plug the camera in and the plug and play will come up and install. it might ask you to point it to wherre the drivers are, just pop the cd in the drive and point it towards the cd
If your maxed out then that is all your computer can handle unless you purchase a higher video graphics card. It could be that you are using what is known as intergrated video memory which in my opinion is okay because it's free but you are probally going to need an upgrade. Nothing to fancy just something around $50 or so will do.

Check out http://www.newegg.com to see the prices on those.

also it will help to know what type of computer you have to ensure you get the correct connection type..if your PC is older then you probally have a PCI slot so you will want to purchase a PCI video graphics card but if your PC is newer then your computer might be able to handle a slightly different interface (plug in type). The types are

1) PCI

2) PCI Express

3) PCI Express x16

If unsure what type you have then you can check that type by click on the start button and right click on my computer %26gt; properties %26gt; hard ware %26gt; device manager %26gt; System Devices %26gt; and down that list somewhere you will see the Intel list of slot types you have. You want to get a PCI Express x16 if you have it but any will do.

Best of Luck!!!!!!!

3 things

a) your graphics card can only support 800 x 600

b)your graphics drivers need updating

c) your monitor is an old 15'; crt which can not support more than 800 x 600
