Mac Question: How do I change screen shots back to jpg?

I take a screen shot (ctrl shift 3 or 4). It's a pdf file. It used to make a jpg file. Why did it change? How can I change it back?

iBook, OS 10.3.9Mac Question: How do I change screen shots back to jpg?
JPEG is a bad format for screenshots. They'll come out blurry and blocky, since JPEG was designed for photographs, not graphics. The best format for screenshots is PNG, and newer versions of OS X use PNG.

10.3 has always used PDF for screenshots.

You can change the format to whatever you want (but please, make it PNG instead of JPEG!) with a program like TinkerTool:

Be careful with that application! it can make plenty of changes to your computer, and not all of them are good.
