How do I change the name that appears on the messenger screen seen by others?

I upgraded to a newer version of messenger and it changed screen name to the real name. Is there a way to customize so only the screen name appears to others?How do I change the name that appears on the messenger screen seen by others?

is an article explains the differences between the Name options available (Yahoo! Account, My Details, user by user) all of which change your available details (first, last name etc) to various degrees and what ppl will see with the different options :)



you can't change the details shown on the friends lists which you are already on, they will need to delete your Yahoo! ID from their list (and address book) then re-add you :)How do I change the name that appears on the messenger screen seen by others?
you can change your name that your account is under. Nobody needs to know it anyway.
click on your avatar and then on edit info of add details
