How do you change screen resolution to 1600x900?

I just bought a new monitor (20'; Samsung 2033SW Widescreen LCD Monitor) for my Dell and the screen resolution needs to be 1600x900 but when i go into ';properties'; that isn't an option. So how do I make the resolution 1600x900?How do you change screen resolution to 1600x900?
It's not Just the Screen You're Using. It's Also You Video Card. What's The max Resolution It Can Produce? How do you change screen resolution to 1600x900?
Actually, if you're connecting an external monitor to a laptop, the problem might be that certain resolutions are blocked. The fix is pretty complicated, but possible. See more at: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/custom-resolutions-on-intel-graphics/

It's probably your video card. You'll probably have to get an upgrade if you want to set your resolution as 1600x900.

Also: 1600x900 isn't required, it's just the best for your monitor.
go to your control panel, open display and try it there.
